John Lindberg

ohn joined ICMM in July 2022, and is ICMM's Policy & Government Affairs Principal. In this role, he leads on ICMM's cross-cutting policy work and government/IGO-related issues.

Prior to joining ICMM, John has held a number of policy-facing roles in the UK, Europe and the United States, advising parliamentarians, ministers, governments, think tanks and industry associations on various issues, predominantly within (nuclear) energy policy, regulation, establishing advocacy functions, and communication. He has represented both the UK government and industry associations at a number of United Nations committees, and is a recognised expert on risk perception and communication, with some of his research cited in Nature.

John holds an MA(Hons) in Political Sciences from the University of Glasgow, an MA in Climate Change: Culture, History, Society from King’s College London, and (shortly) a PhD in social psychology and risk perception from King’s College London and Imperial College London. In 2017, John was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, and in 2021 John was featured on the Swedish Nova 111 list as one of the most promising names in politics & the public sector under the age of 35. John is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations. 

Following his election in July 2025, John serves as co-facilitator of the Business and Industry Major Group (BIMG), a global coalition of more than 80 business and industry associations and institutions accredited to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
