10 February 2026
In-person
Investing in African Mining Indaba
9 February 2026– 12 February 2026,
Cape Town, South Africa

The Investing in Africa Mining Indaba is the premier meeting place for African and global mining leaders. Since its inception in 1994, the event has become a pivotal forum for mining professionals, investors, and governments looking to capitalise on Africa’s mineral potential while advancing sustainable development.

The event will be held from 9–12 February 2026. Under the theme “Stronger together: Progress through partnerships”, this year’s programme will spotlight how governments, businesses, and communities can work together to unlock transformative solutions, foster inclusive growth, and build a resilient mining future.

Confirmed sessions

On 10 February (10:00 – 10:50 SAST), ICMM’s President & CEO, Rohitesh Dhawan, will moderate the debate "Africa is a winner from current geopolitical disruption".

Conventional wisdom suggests that Africa is negatively impacted by the current geopolitical forces. Tariffs, immigration curbs, reduced development funding and a more nationalist agenda in traditional allies are risks to Africa's growth, particularly in minerals. But could the opposite be true? Could the geopolitical (dis)order have more upside than downside for the continent, through for instance - new investment and trade routes, extra focus on intra-Africa trade, and a push for local beneficiation and industrialisation?

This debate at the Mining Indaba will see two teams argue the case in opposite directions relating to Africa's place in the current geopolitical order. The views they express may not represent their personal or organisational view, but they assume the side they've been given so we can benefit from a diversity of perspectives.

World's Deepest Marathon Documentary Premiere

On 10 February (14:15 – 15:15 SAST), we will also be premiering a documentary on the  World’s Deepest Marathon. The film captures the extraordinary event in which 57 runners completed a full 42.2km marathon 1,120 metres below the surface in Boliden’s Garpenberg Mine in Sweden. The challenge raised over $600,000 for charity, including for the BecomingX Foundation and the Wild at Heart Foundation, and has since been officially verified for two Guinness World Records: The Deepest Marathon, and The Deepest Underground Marathon Distance Run (Team).

The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with three of the marathon participants. Details TBC.
